This is a print (available in 2 sizes, 5.5x10.5” -or- 10x20”) of a sold original. Here is the story behind it:

As women belonging to God, if we’ve had good Bible teaching any amount of time, we are very much aware of the imagery of our children as “arrows” (“As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full…”)

Here is what I’m here to communicate: children are the most profound of all that a woman can birth. But a child is (by far) not the O N L Y thing a woman can birth in her lifetime.

Whoever you are, married, single, childless, even past the point of child bearing, or a quiver full - you are still expectant. There are still “arrows” within you - gifts in your possession - do not be half hearted with them.

Some years back, I received a mandate one day, in my time with God. The mandate was to shoot every.last.arrow I’ve been given, and to keep shooting till my quiver is empty and lifeless. Those arrows are my four children, my grandchildren, BUT ALSO my “arrows” are:

Every poem
Every book
Every painting
Every art class I teach
Every meal that I make when I gather people
Every Bible teaching

E V E R Y G I F T I H A V E B E E N G I V E N

is an arrow and the Lord, like the prophet in the true Bible story, has told me, “STRIKE THE GROUND.” (2 Kings 13)

(Which, btw, does not mean to hit the arrows on the ground. It means to SHOOT THEM, even when it doesn’t make sense, or even when the target doesn’t seem to be clear. Just LAUNCH every thing He has given me. Do it. At the command of God.)

I plan on shooting my arrows, launching every gift in every form that it takes, and helping the next generation shoot theirs, until I AM THE OLD WOMAN, who cannot rise up from her bed, but is still yet commanding the next generation to “Shoot. Strike your arrows into the ground, young woman…”
