The most recent of this collection, this was painted while sitting with the profound sense of how deeply people need Jesus, how deeply I need Jesus, and how very much God has helped me and those I love.

This painting is literally MY “Ebenezer”. In ancient Israel, an “Ebenezer” was a physical token, an altar, constructed to remind the nation of exactly how and where God had supernaturally helped them.

The gold leaf is my trademark “tangled script” - done in a brand-new way. I made up the whole technique, and my hair is on fire to do it again…and again.

Tangled script is probably not unique to me, but in my world I made it up about 5 years ago. Because I had never seen it done before. And with this painting, I’ve taken it to a whole, new vibe. I adore it. This is my favorite way to imbed words in a painting, allowing them to be a mark-making feature inside a composition, invisible-visible. When a collector asks, I tell them what it says. But since this one is a dead give-away, I will go ahead and tell you: This one, though you can’t read it, does say, “Ebenezer, God has helped us”.
